Ursula von Rydingsvard + Kate Shepherd

Join us on April 5 for intimate studio tours with sculptor Ursula von Rydingsvard and painter Kate Shepherd. Meet at CUE Art Foundation at 6 PM for cocktails and refreshments, and then board a private shuttle to Brooklyn. Ursula von Rydingsvard will welcome visitors to her studio at approximately 7 PM. The group will arrive at Kate Shepherd's studio at approximately 8 PM. The shuttle will return to CUE at approximately 9 PM.
Ursula von Rydingsvard is one of the most influential postwar sculptors working today. She is best known for monumental sculptures in cedar and bronze. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Walker Art Center, Minnesota; Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Missouri; Storm King Art Center, New York; and Detroit Institute of Arts, Michigan, among others. She has presented major solo exhibitions at numerous institutions, most recently at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in England. Von Rydingsvard was born in 1942 in Germany. She has lived and worked in New York City for over 40 years.
Kate Shepherd employs delicate lines and saturated color in paintings and works on paper that explore spatial complexity and perspective. Her work is featured in numerous museum collections, including the Baltimore Museum of Art, Maryland; Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indiana; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, California; Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Massachusetts; Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C.; and the Seattle Art Museum, Washington, among others. Her most recent solo exhibition, “Battlezones,” was recently on view at Anthony Meier Fine Art in San Francisco. Shepherd lives and works in New York City, where she was born in 1961.
