Curated Selects with Interspecies Library

Please join us to kick off Climate Week NYC with a pop-up selection of books curated by Interspecies Library founder Oscar Salguero, along with a presentation and happy hour from 5–6 pm.
Interspecies Library is the first archive dedicated to the curation and advancement of artists’ books focused on alternative interspecies futures. The growing collection aspires to reflect our changing attitudes and acknowledgment of more-than-human worlds. Salguero presents a selection of books from the library that explore speculative geological, oceanic, vegetal, and animal relationships, expanding on the themes and concepts present in The Tropics, The Moon, and Mars.
Books will be on view for facilitated browsing throughout the day. At 5 pm, refreshments will be served during a happy hour presentation in which Salguero will share more about the library and the curated selection.
The event is free, and all are welcome. RSVPs are encouraged but not required.
About the Curator
Oscar Salguero is an independent curator and researcher based in Queens, New York. He is the founder of Interspecies Library. Salguero curated Interspecies Futures [IF] at Center for Book Arts (2021) and NEO MINERALIA at Center for Craft (2023). His latest curatorial work is Journal of Therolinguistics, an exhibition exploring the poetic study of nonhuman languages, which was shown at Descanso Gardens in California from March 25 to July 5, 2026,
Interspecies Library, initiated by Salguero in 2019, is the first archive of artists' books exploring alternative interspecies futures. The collection is a physical, tangible, living archive, and Salguero often hosts activations and exhibitions that draw from its expanse of knowledge and references.
